When Maxime Perreault (Heavy-duty vehicle mechanic) planned his 2020 vacation, he was far from expecting to board a plane. It was when Eric Vézina (Service Director) approached him with the idea of helping a client located more than 1,300 km from the garage that Maxime decided to rethink his vacation plans.
A programming need
To give you some context, three years ago Camions BL sold three concrete mixer trucks intended to work on Hydro-Québec’s Romaine project. In recent weeks, an issue was identified with one of the trucks. To ensure site safety, all three vehicles were taken out of service while a programming update was required.
Solution mode
After verification, we realized that the nearest dealership was four hours away and could not provide a solution for all the trucks. We therefore put everything in place to provide the necessary support to our client.
To do this, we chose to send a technician directly to the Romaine site. Maxime did not hesitate to take on this challenge, which allowed him to experience a “great experience.”
After departing from Québec City airport, Maxime arrived on site at 5 p.m., where he proceeded with the connection and programming of the three concrete mixers. This programming, which prevents the truck from engaging when the parking brake is activated, ensures the safety of workers who often operate on steep roads.
Mechanic, a career to discover
This adventure clearly demonstrates how the mechanic profession is evolving and becoming increasingly technical. This is especially true in the heavy-duty vehicle industry, where there are many types of repairs and where technology plays an ever-growing role. On behalf of Maxime and Camions BL, we would like to thank all the employees at the Romaine site for your trust and warm welcome!
