The ExpoCam 2023 event was the stage for an exceptional academic competition in heavy vehicle mechanics, featuring six students from three vocational training schools. Held on Saturday, May 27, the competition captivated spectators with an intense qualifying round followed by a thrilling final.

A great showcase for training centers

The participating schools were the Centre de formation professionnelle Paul-Rousseau in Drummondville, the École des métiers de l’équipement motorisé de Montréal (EMEMM), and the Centre de formation professionnelle Wilbrod-Bherer in Quebec City. Each school was represented by two students during the qualifying round, and only one representative per school advanced to the final.

Plot twist!

The highlight of this highly anticipated event was the surprising twist that marked the announcement of the winner. Originally, the prize for the winner was an AGF toolbox in Western Star colors, generously offered by Camions BL. However, to break the tie between the finalists, Cédric Ménard from Camions BL took the initiative to invite the Globocam team to sponsor a second toolbox. The dealership immediately agreed, making it possible to award a second grand prize.

Wanting to ensure fairness among the finalists, the owner of Camions BL, Mr. Philippe Lamoureux, responded to the host’s call by offering a third AGF toolbox to the third finalist. Thanks to the collaboration between Camions BL and Globocam, three high-quality AGF toolboxes were awarded to the finalists of the Garage ExpoCam academic competition.

An exciting competition

This competition was a true springboard for these students passionate about heavy vehicle mechanics, giving them the opportunity to showcase their skills and expertise in the field. The spectators in attendance were impressed by the level of professionalism and ingenuity demonstrated by the participants.

A profession, a passion!

“It’s incredible to see the next generation in action. The heavy vehicle mechanic profession is evolving rapidly and offers many opportunities. It’s a pleasure for the Camions BL team to contribute to a competition that so effectively promotes this profession and our vocational training centers,” says Philippe Lamoureux, Vice President and Co-owner of Camions BL.
