Since 1985, Camions BL has embodied excellence in the field of heavy truck mechanics. From its humble beginnings as a mobile garage to its expansion as a Freightliner and Western Star dealership, the company has grown while remaining true to its core values: customer service, honesty, and innovation.
In this article, we look back at the key milestones of this family entrepreneurial journey, which has successfully spanned decades by adapting to client needs and industry changes.
Humble Beginnings, an Ambitious Vision
The story of Camions BL begins in 1985 with Daniel Lamoureux, a passionate young mechanic trained in the field and driven by the ambition to do things differently. With a simple mobile garage, he offered repair services directly at clients’ locations. Quickly, growing demand pushed him to look for a permanent space.
Banks were reluctant to finance this ambitious project, but Daniel’s perseverance and determination eventually paid off. Within a few months, Camions BL opened its first garage in Granby, marking the beginning of continuous growth.
Expansion and Strengthening of Core Values
With the addition of new services and the hiring of qualified mechanics, Camions BL quickly became a reference. In 1986, the company built its first real garage, followed by an expansion in 1988 to include a suspension and alignment department.
But what sets Camions BL apart is not just its growth, it is its customer service philosophy. Daniel Lamoureux has always placed honesty at the center of business, refusing to charge clients unnecessarily and insisting that every truck be put back into service as quickly as possible so customers can continue earning a living.
A memorable anecdote perfectly illustrates this approach: a client experiencing a transmission issue in the United States was told by an American dealership that he would have to wait a week for an inspection. Unable to afford such a delay, he drove his truck back to Granby—over 600 km—and in less than 30 minutes, the Camions BL team diagnosed and repaired the problem. A concrete example of the company’s commitment to simplifying its clients’ lives.
Becoming a Dealership: A Major Turning Point
The year 1992 marked a key milestone: Camions BL became a Freightliner dealership, a recognition of its expertise and reliability in the industry. Later, in 2010, the company added the Western Star franchise, further strengthening its offering and market position.
At the same time, new branches were opened in Drummondville in 1998 and Victoriaville in 2018. These expansions allowed Camions BL to be closer to its clients and provide even faster and more efficient service.
Innovation and Adaptation to New Realities
The heavy truck mechanics industry has undergone major transformations over the past 40 years. The arrival of electronic technologies, new diagnostic systems, and alternative energy sources (such as natural gas and electric) has forced companies to continuously innovate.
Camions BL has always stayed at the forefront of technology by implementing advanced diagnostic tools, investing in the continuous training of its mechanics, and modernizing its processes to simplify customers’ lives.
Today, customers can order parts online, receive real-time notifications about the status of their repairs, and benefit from a more efficient service than ever before.
A Promising Future for the Next 40 Years
If the story of Camions BL is impressive, its future is just as promising. With the third generation of the Lamoureux family now involved in managing the company, the future is built on the same vision: to remain a leader in heavy truck mechanics, by offering unmatched service and adapting to the new realities of the industry.
Daniel Lamoureux himself says: “Never lose sight of customer service. It’s what will always follow you and guarantee your success.”
After 40 years of growth, challenges, and success, one thing is certain: Camions BL is here to stay.
